The New Colored Pencil by Kristy Ann Kutch is a beautifully
done book. I must confess I am not an artist nor do I aspire to be one but my
daughter loves art and this is why I chose this book. She is a beginner and I
believe this book will help her learn even more. Ms. Kutch does a wonderful job
in describing and explaining different colored pencil media. She also explains
different supplies that a beginning art student would need. The book is
beautifully illustrated and is even easy for me to understand. There are so
many techniques in this book too many in fact for me to list. I do believe this
book is a useful tool for both the novice beginner all the way to an
experienced artist. I didn’t realize there are so many different types of
colored pencils (my experience isn’t much more than Crayola haha). She touches
on the color wheel and how to create line drawings using the grid method. She
gives tips and instruction on blending and using negative space. There is just
too much for me to go into detail.
If you are looking for a book to learn more about using
colored pencils I would recommend this book. It amazes me that a colored pencil
and an artist can create such beautiful art work. I received this book at no
charge from www.bloggingforbooks.com
in exchange for an honest review.
